The Challenge

To develop a global brand and provide effective marketing automation for the CEO and Founder of Spartan Races, Joe De Sena. The brand voice (Joe Network) needed to convey Joe’s honest and empowering nature to position him as a thought leader in business. This voice had to lead a community of like-minded thought leaders and position Joe at the top.

While achieving initial success with Joe Network, The Spartan Team approached us to handle establishing SpartanX Leadership events — team leader training events — around the country. Our team used SpartanX as a vehicle to elevate Joe’s brand into business, not just the fitness industry.

The Process

To position Joe as a thought leader, we launched his online presence across all top social platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn) and built his personal website. By executing a competitive analysis of high-profile thought leaders, our content team built monthly social calendars and evergreen repositories with market-based visual strategies, authentic copywriting, and day-to-day Joe commentaries. Based on Joe’s New York Times Bestseller The Spartan Way, we wrote and published a 27-page downloadable ebook to elevate Joe’s presence in leadership. 

For Spartan X events, our work involved targeted outreach for sponsorships and partnerships, retargeting Search Ads campaign to sell tickets, and direct mail initiatives to high-profile prospects. We designed and developed the SpartanX website to target top thought leaders in the nation and to showcase Joe as a knowledgable, effective leader.

With our email automation strategies, Joe Network emails saw 6x email clicks, 48.7% open rate, and 30,000+ list growth. Since 2017, our content team helped Joe reach a total audience of 250,000 across all social platforms and landed articles on Business Insider and Entrepreneur. By utilizing our strategic marketing efforts, Joe guest-appeared on Grant Cardone’s YouTube channel, Outside TV, and major news outlets like ABC and NBC.
