Ronnie stepped out on his own, constructing a 4000-square-foot warehouse building in Northport, New York, located on the north shore of Long Island. The company’s first tractor-trailer is purchased, officially forming Muhlenhaupt Moving and Storage.
Our family business is formally incorporated as Muhlenhaupt Movers, Inc. Ronald Muhlenhaupt and his wife Peggy are at the helm. Additional storage buildings are built over the next few years to accommodate the ever-growing demand for the excellent service associated with the Muhlenhaupt brand.
National affiliations with Stephens Van Lines, U.S. Van Lines, Atlas Van Lines are all formed. Most importantly, in 1968, the award-winning team of United Van Lines / Muhlenhaupt Moving Systems was formed.
Upon graduation from Fairfield University, Ronnie's son, Ronald P. "Rip" Muhlenhaupt joined his father in business, continuing the tradition of success and bringing innovative new ideas to the family firm as well as to the moving industry itself.
The company becomes The Muhlenhaupt Corporation following its movement into records and information management systems and direct marketing.
The moving business is sold in 1990 and Ronnie and Peggy gratefully retire. After continuing to grow Muhlenhaupt Records Management, the company is acquired by Pierce Leahy Archives. Rip joins the Executive Staff as Assistant to the CEO, Peter Pierce.
Rip plays a key role in assisting Peter Pierce take Pierce Leahy public on the New York Stock Exchange.

Rip leads incredible events including visits from World Leaders such as George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Mikhail Gorbachev, and Prince Albert II of Monaco.
